CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – Campbellsville University has named Dr. Donna Elkins as associate vice president for regional administration.
“I am excited and thankful to join the good work of Campbellsville University’s regional locations and workforce tech certificate programs,” Elkins said. “CU staff and faculty across the University have provided the warmest welcome, which heightens my expectation of continuing to grow the high-quality educational experiences offered through all of our CU sites.

As associate vice president for regional administration, Elkins will be tasked with providing leadership for Campbellsville University’s regional centers, which include the Conover Education Center in Harrodsburg, the Noe Education Center in Somerset, the Louisville Education Center, the Los Angeles Education Center in Los Angeles and the Windsor, Ontario center in Canada.
Among her other duties include the development of a comprehensive communication strategy with Campbellsville University’s regional centers. She will also oversee the university’s certificate programs within the Virginia Ponser Flanagan Technology Training Center.
Elkins has served in administrative, faculty, and staff roles at several Kentucky universities and colleges for the past three decades.
Most recently, Elkins served as dean of online programs and director of the Center for Teaching and Learning at Spalding University in Louisville, Ky. She also served as a full professor of Communication at Spalding.
From July 2013 to July 2015, Elkins was dean of academic affairs for the Southwest Campus of Jefferson Community and Technical College in Louisville. Other roles Elkins served in included division chair of Humanities (2009 to 2013), Communication Department Head (2005 to 2010), a member of the faculty in Communication from 2003 to 2013 and coordinator of institutional research from October to December 2002.
“Dr. Elkins brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the regional administration role,” Dr. Donna Hedgepath, provost and vice president for academic affairs, said. “She not only has past experiences with community and technical organizations but also has visionary insight for future programming and opportunities that will continue to expand and improve our global footprint.”
Elkins will report directly to Hedgepath and serve as a President’s Cabinet and Administrative Council member.

Elkins received her Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Government from Morehead State University in 1989. She also holds a Master of Arts in Mass Communication with a Journalism emphasis from Morehead State University, which she received in 1994, and a Master of Arts in Political Science from the University of Louisville, which she received in 2009.
In 2005, Elkins received her Ph.D. in Communication from the University of Kentucky. Her cognate area of study was in educational policy and evaluation.
