Paul Edwards named Vice President of Finance and Administration | Wayland Baptist University

Wayland Baptist University is pleased to announce the appointment of Paul Edwards as its new Vice President of Finance and Administration/CFO, effective immediately.

“We are excited to welcome Paul Edwards to the Wayland family,” said Dr. Donna Hedgepath, President. “His financial expertise and strategic vision will be invaluable as we continue to steward our resources and advance our mission.”

Edwards brings extensive experience in higher education finance, administration, and strategic planning. Prior to joining Wayland, he served as Vice President for Finance and Administration at Western Illinois University, where he oversaw financial operations, human resources, financial aid, facilities management, and information technology. He has also held leadership roles at Richard Bland College of William & Mary, the University of Tennessee, Kentucky State University, and Liberty University.

“I am honored to join Wayland Baptist University,” Edwards said. “Wayland’s rich history of academic excellence and faith-based education aligns with my commitment to responsible stewardship and strategic leadership. I look forward to working with the university community to ensure financial sustainability, operational efficiency, and continued growth in service of our students and mission.”

With advanced degrees in accounting, finance, and business administration, Edwards is currently completing a Doctorate in Higher Education Administration at the College of William & Mary, expected in May. In addition to his administrative expertise, he has been an adjunct professor of accounting and business at Liberty University since 2007.

A veteran of the U.S. Navy, Edwards served from 1992 to 1994. He and his wife, Nikki, have raised nine children. They plan to relocate to Plainview after their youngest child graduates from high school this spring, with Edwards working remotely in the interim.
